The year 2015 welcomed and strengthened several love teams in the country. Here are the most popular love teams who supplied us with much kilig in 2015 and, even though 2016 is the Year of the Monkey, will surely bring butterflies [in our stomachs] instead this year.

AlDub
In 2015, the phenomenal tandem of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza – popularly known as AlDub – was able to dominate the noontime TV ratings, Twitter, print and TV ads and the box-office in just a few months.

There is no stopping AlDub – this year, expect more of them not just in the noontime habit KalyeSerye but also in several other projects. Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA’s senior assistant VP for Alternative Productions, revealed plans for a TV show, a movie, albums and “something international” for the pair.

The TV show would most probably be a primetime teleserye. She clarified, though, that Eat Bulaga remains the priority and the soap would adjust accordingly. A movie top-billed by the two is also underway, just awaiting the material.

After the success of Alden’s “Wish I May” album, a second one is set to be released this May while Maine has already been offered with her own but no signing has been made yet.

BBC and Reader’s Digest have taken notice of AlDub in 2015 and, this year, another international project has been panned out for the love team.

JaDine
After their breakthrough in 2014, James Reid and Nadine Lustre have done back-to-back projects in 2015 including their top-rating teleserye “On the Wings of Love” (OTWOL).

JaDine welcomed 2016 shooting additional scenes for OTWOL in San Francisco and performing on their Fans Day in Sacramento. As many already know, OTWOL will end this February but fret not as this love team is too hot to fizzle.

Speaking of hotness, this February 20, they will hold their first major concert “JaDine Love: One Hot Concert” at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. And such hotness will not be contained locally – their concert tour “On the Road With JaDine” will go international this year and their “JaDine Love” has been set to be staged in Italy as well.

Aside from conquering the concert scene, according to ABS-CBN’s Entertainment site Push, the JaDine movie “Never Talk to a Gangster,” the sequel to “Talk Back and You’re Dead” will finally push through this year.

KathNiel
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla definitely opened the year with a bang! They travelled to Vietnam to claim their Best Foreign Actor and Best Foreign Actress awards from the 2015 Vietnam’s Face of the Year Awards for their teleserye “Got To Believe.”

While their current teleserye is maintaining its high ratings and trending tweets, a movie is already in the pipeline for the Teen King and Queen. Given their jam-packed schedule, the filming may only start once “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” ends.
